As its name implies, ADSL Autoconnect is intended for allowing the easy management of ADSL connections. While this Internet delivery method is cheaper, it features smaller download speeds with respect to fibre optic broadband, which is the reason why its usage is decreasing (although it still is the most widespread broadband system in some countries).
ADSL Autoconnect can be of great use to those who still benefit of Internet access based on copper telephone lines. Providing support for multiple protocols (namely PPTP, PPPOA and PPPOE), it gives them a helping hand in managing the connections easier and monitor transfer rates.
Based on distant access services, the application is not compatible with ENTERNET300. Router or FreeBox connections are not detected as well.
The configuration process is performed during the installation process. Needless to say an ADSL account is required (the application allows you to enter the username and the password, as well as select the desired profile from a drop-down list).
The application might not recognize your connection profile as a high speed Internet access method. In this case, you have the option to enable the display of all the profiles, including non-ASDL ones (RTC modem connections). Please note that using ADSL Autoconnect with a limited Internet account might result in additional costs, since the application is mainly intended for high-speed connections and unlimited bandwidth.
After a forthright configuration procedure, ADSL Autoconnect enables users to manage their connections in a comfortable manner. It is capable of helping you automatically reconnect or schedule connection reinitialization. You can set it to launch an ASDL connection at startup or alert you of any IP address changes.
