WHAT YOU NEED
This tutorial is for the desktop version of Photoshop Elements. Not the mobile version. If you are looking for a mobile version of Photoshop Elements, please check out the post below.
First, we need to download a program called the Adobe Creative Cloud. This is the program that gives you access to Adobe Photoshop Elements. Adobe Creative Cloud is extremely powerful software that lets you do some pretty cool things. It contains a lot of great tools and it’s easier and more convenient than other Adobe programs.
Once you have Creative Cloud, download the Photoshop Elements version you want to use. You will be prompted to download the latest version once you start the program. After that, Photoshop Elements is installed and we are ready to start our Photoshop Elements tutorial!
GET STARTED
1. Open Photoshop Elements and then click “Get Started”
2. Click “Get New Projects”
3. Click the “Create New Project” button
4. Select “Photoshop Elements”
5. Click “Set up Photoshop Elements”
6. Click “Next”
7. Select “Import Existing Photos and Settings”
8. Click “Choose Files”
9. Click the “Photoshop” folder
10. Click the “File” icon
11. Click the “Load Folder” button and then navigate to the Photoshop folder
12. Click the folder “Copy Photos” to copy the Photoshop folder onto your computer
13. Click “OK”
14. Click “Next”
15. Click “Create a New Folder”
16. Name the folder “Photoshop Elements Copy”

To begin, we need to create a new document. Choose File > New, and create a document of the size you want to work on. I’m creating a document that’s exactly 8 inches high and 6 inches wide.
To navigate through the toolset in Photoshop, it’s important to remember the keyboard shortcuts. To access the tools, choose Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts…:

In this tutorial, I will be using my F key as the default shortcut for many of the tools. To begin, I’ll use the Brush tool:
Next, I’ll select the Brush tool. Because the first menu item (I chose White Brush) is labeled “Brush Size,” I’ll need to press the up arrow on the keyboard to move up one menu item. Then I’ll use the up arrow to move to Brush Sizes. Then I’ll use the up arrow again to move to Hard Round Brush, and then I’ll click it:

Then I’ll use the down arrow to move to my brush size, Hard Round, and click it:
