Features
In order to keep things interesting, the game involves a lot of platforming and puzzle solving. Gameplay is centered around movement, jumping, collecting, and dodging obstacles. A large number of these obstacles can be used for breaking and grabbing things, the game is also punctuated with a lot of upgrades and abilities.
Overall, it’s not a game that should be taken too seriously.
Look and sound
Ongina is a bit less gorgeous than some other games in the genre. That’s not really a problem, however, since the game is stylized to resemble a 2-D Mario.
The music and sound design are standard fare for this genre and add a pleasant vibe to the gameplay.
Interface
As far as the user interface is concerned, things are pretty straightforward. There’s a main menu where you can change the game settings and, from there, you’ll be able to select which levels to play. The controls are set up as a sideways, bottom-heavy, vertical flow. There are options to skip levels, pause and play, and to change the graphics settings.
Overall, a clean, simple interface that will not distract you from the action.
Performance
Ongina is a reasonably fast game, at least from what I’ve experienced. It never stutters or gets choppy, and pretty much everything runs smoothly.
The game doesn’t require a whole lot of CPU or memory, which can be good or bad depending on what kind of device you’re using.
Ongina is a great game for those who want to take a break from the heavy stuff.
